Song breakdown

Main Riff

In the video, I break down the three main riffs of this song. Riffs 1 and 2 are based on the D blues scale (which is the D minor pentatonic scale with one note added!). Riff 3 is similar but moves down a string to the G blues scale.

Song structure

This entire song roughly follows a 12 bar blues in D, but each section is longer and features the signature riff. Think of it this way and it becomes much easier to play along to the whole song!
