The Rolling Stones - (I Can't Get No) Satisfaction

This is satisfaction, and in this video, I'm just gonna talk you through that main riff, which is the main focus of this level of the beginner's course. You need to get some single note riffs under your fingers that are short, repetitive, and recognisable. However, this is the first one that we've covered, or one of the first ones we've covered. That I actually filmed with a band, I filmed it with a live band, I have done a full tutorial for the full song, but this is a great opportunity for you to play along with my band and actually see this part played on screen that you can play along with and get that feeling of joining in with a real band, however, I don't want you to focus on any other bits other than the. Riff. Just try and play the riff along to my band, or indeed the original recording, the song on YouTube, which I will embed down below in the description. That's the main task at this point. Get some single note recognisable riffs under your fingers, and this is a great one. It starts off at the 2nd fret of string 5 with the index finger. And we play it twice. And then we take the 3rd finger and it's gonna be ready to hit fret 4, and we're gonna go index at 2, ring finger at fret 4, and then slide that to 5. I In tab, that is 22. 245 and then it's simply 5544 and we just slide again. One more time, really slow, join in if you want. 21234. Detail point. There's a pause between the first two notes. That is done and controlled by the first finger just relaxing, pick, and then relax. And because my first finger is touching string 654, in fact all six strings, when it relaxes. Nothing really rings out, we can also mute at this side cos you can hear sometimes. There's the odd little sound. If I have it covered at the other side as well, it can't ring out, and you're in control of your instrument, especially when we've got a lot of overdrive on, same, same brown sound here. Though if you do have any kind of fuzz pedal or fuzz setting on your amplifier, especially if it's a digital amplifier, something like the Spark will probably have some kind of fuzz on it. That's gonna sound exactly like that original recording, and when you have that, it's especially important. To get that ba ba. Mostly with this hand, but you can also catch it with the picking hand. Little bit of palm muting. And then it's 2455544, repeat. Uh Let's go together, let's do this 4 times, cycling, what we call cycling or just repeating, but repeating in the same rhythm. Don't lose the vibe and the rhythm when you've got it. Join in with me, 121234. That's 4 times through. Once you can do that, have a go along to the original recording. Have a go along to the Andy Guitar band programme. It's a perfect opportunity to start and get that feeling, but you will find that all of that band programme, the rest of it, does level up quite quickly. So I recommend coming back to this course and sticking with it to build up your skills at the same time as the songs increase in difficulty.
