About this course
Level 4 is where refinement takes over from foundation-building. The focus shifts to dynamic control, rhythmic precision, faster chord changes, and confidently navigating new keys and tunings.
What you will learn:
The tresillo rhythm with 16th note accent patterns
AC/DC-style dynamic rhythm guitar
Fast power chord changes using the floating technique
The E minor pentatonic superhighway through Hendrix territory
The blues scale
Playing in the key of F♯
Drop D tuning across classic and heavy styles
The tresillo is a three-pulse rhythm behind everything from Hound Dog to Shape of You — at this level you embed it within continuous 16th note strumming. Malcolm Young's dynamic picking style becomes the model for rhythm guitar, where volume and intensity come entirely from your right hand. Power chord speed improves through the floating technique, where fingers slide between positions rather than lifting off the strings.
The pentatonic superhighway extends through shapes 3 and 4 into Hendrix territory, with Purple Haze and Voodoo Child as target songs. The blues scale adds one note to the pentatonic — the augmented fourth — unlocking the sound behind Sunshine of Your Love, Enter Sandman, and Sweet Child o' Mine. Playing in F♯ opens up riffs from Immigrant Song to Are You Mine, and Drop D tuning covers everything from Come Together to Killing in the Name
