Howlin' For You - The Black Keys

In this guitar lesson, we look at how to play Howlin' For You by The Black Keys. This is a perfect example of how to use this E minor Pentatonic Scale to improvise.

In the intro, we have a 4 note pattern to a certain rhythm. This rhythm is repeated for every other variation of this riff! Then these same notes are recycled for the 2nd riff which is echoed in the vocal line 'Da da daa da, da.' It also uses slides as a way to access the higher A note on the E string- which is still in our E minor pentatonic- its just a note higher up in the same scale further up the neck!
