In this video
Hannah covers the basics of vocal placement and how good placement can help to protect the voice.
Lesson aims
Learn how to shape words differently to assist with better vocal placement
Exercise 1 - Sirens
Try using guttural sounds as heard in the video, such as "B-uh" or "G-uh", to place our voice lower in the larynx
Then, perform a siren trying to keep the larynx lower, comfortable and without strain
Exercise 2 - Working on from exercise 1...
Choose a challenging song and start to replace the wider vowels with narrower ones - "G-uh", "B-uh", "Uh"
When we are familiar with these vocal 'Uh' positions, then slowly try the actual vowels whilst incorporating the new vocal placement
This can help us hit the more difficult notes with less strain whilst we practice!
