In this lesson, we revisit the major pentatonic scale and then learn some simple licks to get started using this scale in a musical context.

Although many of the moves and positions will be familiar, we must use the major pentatonic in a different way than the minor pentatonic. In improvisation, they are not interchangeable. The major pentatonic should be seen as a reduced major scale, which is exactly what it is.

Remember, the start and end notes of your licks are critical to make the major pentatonic sound right!
