Bass Song 20 - All The Small Things

This is how to play all the Small Things by Blink 182 on bass guitar. This is of course part of the Andy Guitar Band programme where we're learning 21 songs on bass, on guitar, and on drums, so that whatever instrument you want to play, you can play some songs along to the band, along to the Andy Guitar band. And have some fun, having that band experience all on YouTube, and then hopefully a few of you want to start some bands of your own. I think that'd be a wonderful thing for you guys to do, I know I've had such fun doing it over the years. Um, this is one of those songs where I, it's so much fun to play, certainly on, on bass, it's great fun. But I don't know whether the Blink 182 fans out there among you, uh, will think this is great, or whether you think that my enchanting British accent just doesn't work for a Blink 182 song. But either way, you can play along to us or you can play along to the Blink 182 original. I'm just doing the play along videos here with the band to show you guys what we're doing, so you can really see what we're doing. So this song is in the key of C, as so many songs in the series have been. And the only notes that we're playing on bass are C. G and F. It is simply a case of remembering the order of those uh for each section, and we're using a pick, and we're going to be going for 1 and 2 and 3 and 4 and basically throughout. You could probably, probably encourage you guys, um, you know, the typical viewer of this video to play, uh, the C note on string 3 with the middle finger, and then the two notes on string 4 with the first finger moving like this. But as it's kind of a pop punk song, all rules kind of go out the window and you could even just use your first finger for the whole song if you wanted, or do whatever you feel like it, as long as you're playing the right notes at any one time. It's just a case of keeping up with the band, playing in time and having some fun. So the introduction is 2 bars of the C, 1 bar of G. Pause and then just two notes of F in the following fashion. Again. And 1 and 2 and 3 and 4. And the very intro, the start of the song. Is little finger probably on the G, that's the only time we'll need that, going straight to the F. It would be like that. For the verses, it's C, G, F, G. All the things care Truth brings It sounds so sweet when I sing it in an enchanting British accent. OK, now you'll keep going and then in that little interlude section. I will not go, that's G to F. Bit like the intro. No, I will not go. Turn the lights off. Carry me OK, then the whole thing would repeat again. And then we just have that little interlude. So what we're gonna do now is go for the play along where you can see what we're doing for the first, around the first minute, so we get intro verse chorus. After that it's essentially repetition of what we've already done. This is going to be at 75% speed so you can really see what you're doing and you can hopefully, hopefully play along to the whole thing after working through this little section now. So that was the main section, now let's have a go to the full song. This is at full tempo as well, but remember you're in control, you can change the speed of this on YouTube itself, using that little settings feature where we can slow it down to 75%, and I think that will really help many of you if you've not done it yet. Working towards playing this up to tempo and having some fun playing it onto a live band. Hope you enjoy it guys, here we go now. So there you go guys, I hope you really enjoyed that one. Remember the intention is not just to practise this until you can play it once along to the original. The idea is to practise this so that you can't get it wrong. Uh, that is what it takes to be able to play in a band consistently and be able to play live in front of a live audience. Hopefully some of you guys want to do that.
