This lesson teaches Come Together in drop D tuning (lowering the thickest string from E to D).

This open tuning makes the famous bass riff, blues licks, and power chords much easier to play, opening up an epic new world of guitar possibilities!

To tune to Drop D Tuning:

  • Lower thickest string (string 6) from E down to D

  • About a quarter turn clockwise on tuning peg

  • Using a chromatic tuner will be great here

Advantages of Drop D:

  • D major chord becomes fuller (all six strings)

  • Can play bass riff easier

  • Blues riffs become playable with one finger

  • and Power chords are simplified to 1 finger shapes too
