Welcome to day 10 of this 10 day Beatles guitar challenge. Well done for making it this far. And we have a simplified way of playing one of the biggest sing-along songs of the Beatles' back catalogue, Hey Jude. To make this more guitar friendly than it otherwise would be, I recommend sticking a capo or a capo at the 3rd Bret, which puts this, which would be in the key of F, into the key of D major, using the simplified chords. Major, A major, G major, and D for most of the song. We have an E minor in this song, but if you're comfortable with songs that use D, A, and G, you'll be able to do this one. Strumming pattern throughout is gonna be 1 and 2 and 3 and 4, and so 8th all down strumming, perhaps with some embellishments as well, 1 and 2 and a 3. And that thrown in for good measure. Now let's have a look at the verse of this song, just two main sections to this one, we've got a verse and then a chorus. Let's have a look at this. The verse chord progression starts on the D major, Hey Jude, it's on a D. Don't make it bad, A major. A 7 as an embellishment. Take a sad. And make it better, but. And Then to a A major to make it deep. Same as that again. Let's go on the beat. Hey Jude. Don't be afraid. The skin To make it Then we have the chorus section which is D7. Anytime you feel the pain, then we have this descending pattern, you could, if this is too much of a struggle, just stay on G major. You'd refrain, don't carry the world. A 7 and then. OK, that's one option, but we may as well look at. Over E minus 7 and A 7 So this is our primary D major embellishment where we've got a D7, covered this loads in this 10 day course, but this. G over, this is a slash chord, so G slash F means we're playing an F in the bass, but we're playing a G chord. All the rest of the notes are still a G chord, right? So G chord, F sharp in the bass, that's what the forward slash means. E minor 7 is an option or just E minor. Back to G. A 7 upon your. Let's go for all of that on the beat, so this is from D7, 23, do do. Refrain He 7 and again. Then we have and And 23, back to verse. So making this world a little colder, nah nah. hate Pretty simple, that is with all dance strumming on the beat. All we do to embellish that is one. I OK, nice and simple, the only thing to talk you through now is just that epic final uh ending, the singalong part. This uses D, C major. G major. And D major. Ah. know. Hey With the strumming 3 and 4 and. The strums that you're already kind of miming, if you're doing. 3, keep that pattern. Just catch all the ones you're doing anyway, aren't you? And that makes this really level.
