Congratulations on reaching Day 10!
Seven Nation Army brings together so much from the course:
Single-note riffs
Movable power chords
Rhythm guitar techniques.
This is one of the most common first riffs for guitar players, but adding the power chord chorus sections and playing the complete song elevates it to a much higher level.
Main Learning Points:
Riff all on string 5 (A string)
Pattern: 7 - 7-10-7-5-3 - 2 (using those fret marker dots)
Little finger reaches up to fret 10, then slide down to each note with the first finger
Riff notes variation in the chorus
Intro and outro of Chorus: G to A (Fret 3 to fret 5 power chords)
Count: 1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8 on each chord
Advanced Technique - Note Duration:
Listen to the original to hear where notes ring out vs. where they're short:
Long-long-short-short-short-long-long
Control duration by keeping fingers down (long notes) or relaxing pressure without lifting (short notes)
This articulation makes the riff sound accurate and professional
