G major Chord
This is the standard way of playing a G chord using just fingers 1, 2 and 3.
We have 3 key ways to play the G major with a few different finger variations, much like what we have looked at with the A major chord. These alternative fingerings offer different advantages depending on the context!
G chord options
This is a 2 finger way of playing the G where we don't use finger 1 to play the major 3rd note (which is a B note on fret 2 string 5)
Alternative ‘Oasis style’ or 'Big G' G major Chord
I nickname this an Oasis G as it is used in Wonderwall, which is one of the most requested songs! It is used in all pop/ rock genres by virtually all guitarists. The advantages of this G are the use of the anchor finger, especially when moving from the D major to G major.
E major to E minor
Finally we can check out the E minor chord. The easiest way to find this chord initially is to form the regular E major chord and then take off finger 1, leaving the Open G note to sound.
