Strumming pattern 1 - mixing down and up strums
The arrows here indicate down and up strums. The numbers represent the count for this rhythm over the beat.
Strumming pattern 2 - most common EVER!
Notice the line between the & and beat 3. This is called a tie. This shows that beat 3 is not played, but the strum from beat 2 & carries over.
