Practice Routine & Songs for Level 4. This lesson is from the Andy Guitar Beginner Guitar Course.

Welcome to the Practice Routine & Songs for Level 4 lesson.

We have covered a lot of ground in this level so I have two suggestions of how we should practice at this stage.

If you only have 15 minutes a day to practice, no problem! Split your routine in half:

  • 15 minutes on one day: Chords, rhythm, exercises and/or Jam Tracks

  • 15 minutes another day: Full session of song practice!

If you can manage 30 mins a day then try this:

  • Chord practice 5 mins

    • C major and the C to D change

    • G to Cadd9 to D changes - (remember that middle finger leads these changes)

  • Single note practice 5 mins

    • G major pentatonic, in scale order going back to front

    • Jam track: Single note practice here makes this 30 mins a day possible, taking the strain off all the fingers from playing chords

  • Strumming and rhythm 5 mins

If the 8th rhythms are still tripping you up, keep on the Off beat Drum Track, as this is a great 5 min exercise to lock down this technique

  • Songs 15 mins

    • Love Me Do full version, Sweet Home Alabama, Tumbling Dice, Ring Of Fire - all great options

    • Wildcard: You Shook Me All Night Long

More songs if you want to try!

  • Eleanor Rigby

  • U2 - I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For

  • Harry Styles: Golden

  • Chicken Fried

  • Cecelia

  • Heartbeat

Course Completed!

Well done! Let's jump into the next course in this pathway.
