Now, let's look at consolidating Scales. This is never an easy task, there are many scales beyond the ones we've learnt so far.

However, the relatively easy Major Scale as a series of just 7 notes is crucial - Learn this through and through, fully understand it, back to front and you will thank yourself in future!

Major scale

  • C major scale - all open position (Level 7)

  • Useful to know: A natural minor scale (C major) - all open position (relative major/ minor scale/ key covered at level 8)

  • G major scale - at least 1 octave and on 1 string (Level 5)

Major Pentatonic

Minor pentatonic (blues and rock scales)
