This is the song that launched the Rolling Stones career and regularly features within the top 5 of various 'Greatest song of all time' lists!

Song breakdown

Main Guitar Riff

Keiths signature lead guitar part was recorded using a Maestro FZ-1 Fuzz-Tone. He originally intended this to replaced by horns, but was outvoted in the studio! I just alternated between channels 1 and 2 of my Victory Sheriff amplifier to go between clean and overdrive tones.

Verse chords

The chords featured in this song are an E major, A major and B major - and that's it!

Thomas played the simple strumming part using open chords and the B barre chord. I played power chords in the verse, which is closer to what Keith Richards is doing during the verses on the original recording.
