Major Scale Recap
The Major scale is a seven note scale. It is the foundation of all western music. Most melodies you’ll hear on the radio are derived from the notes of the major scale. Electric guitarists may be more familiar with the ‘Minor Pentatonic’ Scale, but that is rarely associated with acoustic fingerstyle music, with the exception of Blues, which we’ll cover briefly at the very end of this course.
Claw Fingerstyle Technique
As we are playing single notes one at a time, it is best to use the claw fingerstyle method with the picking hand. Here we’ll use it in the most simple way, plucking thumb then first finger, and just repeating this motion no matter what note is being played.
