Where to go from here - Beginner Electric

In this video

Congratulations on completing Beginner Electric! If you've followed this program as designed, you now have more guitar skills than many players performing at open mic nights and in their first bands. This final lesson outlines your options for continued growth.

While it’s natural to take stock at this point, polish up your repertoire, I want to remind you of two things;

  1. The intermediate course lines up perfectly with this program without a gap - don’t hesitate if you want to keep making progress!

  2. Many of you will now have more guitar skills than many people who play open mic nights, play in bands, or perform live. If these are your ambitions - go for it! Don’t wait for permission, don’t wait till you fell ready - just do it!

Two things that are often difference that makes the difference; find a community and musical outlets that allign to your musical goals

1 - Find a community of like minded guitar players or musicians that you can identify with

  • Discord and live streams

  • Attend a local open mic night, either in person or online (Discord plug)

2 - Find a musical outlet that aligns to your goals, and always be on the lookout for an opportunity for one!

  1. Record yourself - Discord, instagram, Garageband course for home recording to perform covers, perhaps start songwriting/ riff writing and start recording those

  2. Play with others - Discord

  3. Perform for others - Discord online open mic, birthdays and BBQs, in person open mic, perform covers, write songs and go for it!

Three Main Pathways:

1. Intermediate Electric (coming 2026): Picks up right where this course ends, building on your foundation with more advanced rhythm techniques, complex chord progressions, and deeper theory.

2. Intermediate Acoustic: Perfect for mastering bar chords across the neck, with great electric guitar song tutorials included. If you've discovered you prefer acoustic, this is your next step.

3. Lead Guitar Program: Nine levels of structured solo development for those who want to treat guitar as a lead instrument like BB King, Eric Clapton, or countless others. Don't delay if this is your passion.

Important Mindset Advice:

You're more ready than you think. Every professional musician I've interviewed started playing with others before they felt 100% ready. Join that jam session, start that band, or play at that open mic. The community support through live lessons, Discord, and Open Mic Sundays exists specifically to help you take these steps.

All your favourite memories with guitar are yet to come, and they'll happen with other people - whether on stage, at a barbecue, or just jamming with friends. Thank you for trusting me as your teacher. I look forward to seeing you in the intermediate courses, lead guitar programs, and the ongoing community. You should be genuinely proud of what you've accomplished.
