Song 8 - Auld Lang Syne

It is that time of year again, approaching the new year, um, and let's check out how to play Auld Lang Syne and even learn the other verses. Who knew there was more than one verse, eh? No one ever sings that at New Year, but let's, let's check this out, just 3 easy chords, um, starting from the A chord. Let me give you a quick example. Should old acquaintance be forgot and to acquaintance For I've got and Now we have some strumming options in this, but let me just talk you through the verse and the uh the chorus for all lands aren't OK, so we can try and get this, uh, try and get this going. For every chord that is written, we're currently going to strum once. However, that every chord written lasts a bar, so we're gonna end up strumming 4 times for each chord. So from the A chord, just strumming on each chord that we see. The chord sheet, in case I haven't mentioned it yet, is available in the description so you can follow this from the A major chord. 123 should. Acquaintance. This is the A major, the way that I play it in my beginner's course for beginners, but 3 in a line's totally fine, even some people play it like this, you crazy cats that love bar chords, you play an A chord like this, it's all good. From the Achord, should. Acquaintance, then the E major like this. Forgot. Back to a and That's the D major chord. And then we're back to here, sure. acquaint and and the Exactly the same for every other verse as we go through here. And there are a lot of verses, who knew, but here's the memorable bit that everyone just sings on a loop at New Year. From the chord, this is gonna go for. Apparently, we. Yet and the Of old Lang Syne even though nobody sings that line, everyone said should old acquaintance be forgot every time. If this is a look, I really want you guys to be able to play and sing this um. And you know, to, uh, together at the same time. Perhaps this is gonna be the first song that you might be able to play and sing together and get a little sing along going. Um, this is where the capo comes in really handy. If you have open chords like this, it's a little bit lower for my voice. Um, so 3rd fret or 5th fret will higher it just enough to mean that you can either go higher with your voice or even go an octave lower, depending on the key that can really work. So, um, now. Should all acquaintance be forgotten, OK? And to find that melody it's um again we've done this a few times now on my channel, it's on string 4 to 3 when you play that a chord. 43. And you need to match that with your voice should old acquaintance. For guard and then just swim normally. It, well, it's just probably not in the right key for your voice. Especially when we're starting out. It's quite a narrow range of pitch we can normally reach with our voice. Or like it's when it's quite early, like it is for me when I'm filming this video. Um, so let's just go through that chorus again for old Lanzyne, my dear. And then we'll go through verse two. Who knew there was a verse 2? Um, but we're gonna be strumming 3 times per. But we're going to be strumming this time, 4 times per chord written. So 1. OK.
