Welcome to day 9 of 10 day Beatles guitar, and today we're looking at yesterday. This is in the key of G major, tuned down a whole step, so the guitar is tuned down not to an E but to a D and everything goes down a whole step, uh, to be able to play along to the original and how Paul McccCartney plays it live. However, we can stay in standard tuning for this whole 2. And this whole song. I'll show you how to tune down a whole step in the bonus video of this song, and also give you some finger style tips down there. Biggest finger style tip is to keep the thumb ahead of the fingers, and the thumb is going to change root note depending on which string it's on. But fingers 12, and 3 are typically going to stay on strings 23 and 4, and we're gonna do this pattern of thumb charge. 123412. So thumb, pluck, pluck, pluck, plucking into the hand. Pretty straightforward, but you do need a bit of knowledge of root notes and a bit of finger style technique. More help with all that in the bonus videos down below. So the chords to this song are G major, but we don't have to play the first finger if we're doing the finger picking. So we can just go thumb on the root and then fingers 234, you can even play it without the little finger if you want, but I'll use this one. As one of my preferred G's, we then have an F minor, and we can play the F minus 7. Like this Or do what Paul McCartney. Does live when we have the route, and he plays it like this with a flat first finger on the thinnest 3 strings. And we then go to a B7, so the trick is whichever way you can get to a B7 quicker, and I reckon it is this way. And again we don't need to play that little finger, we don't need to play string one if you're not plucking it, or if you're doing dum, strum strum strum. Which you could do and just strum with the nail if you don't like the plucking. We could do that way, so through that top line. And then it's to E minor. And D major, C major. Major or D7, you choose, it's just an embellishment. I'll stick to the basic chords. Back to G Then we have a similar run again, E minor, A major, C, and G. Remember we got this Beatles G from earlier, that could be handy for that C to G change. Entirely up to you. That's most of the song because it repeats again just not fully, it repeats kind of from that F sharp part. Um, so it's the same moves. Occurring in this song, if you can get these 1st 2 or 3 lines, you've got this nailed. I promise you, you can do this. Let's have a look at this one last time with the plucking as well. Just follow with basic strumming if you want that idea or pluck thumb and fingers together. In this fashion, if you prefer. From the very top, 234. Yes, F sharp. All my troubles seem so far away. Now it looks as Same as that again, suddenly. I'm not happy. I There's a shadow. Yes Came The chorus is basically the same kind of thing, just shorter, so we go from F minus 7. B7 again. And then E minor D. New chord, A minor, D7G. And it's that again. So she had go. I don She F minus. B 7 He mine Oh yes. lay. Now I need a place to hide. Repeat again for. For the ending, so you'll need some finger style experience uh to be able to do that, but no bar chords. If we use these technically harder chords, that'd be like 7th chords, no bar chords in it, uh, the tuning down a whole step is, is something that you might want to consider. There's also, you, you can look at uh backing tracks that you can hire up to the key of G to save you retuning your guitar or keep one guitar if you have multiple. In that lower tuning so you can always come back to this song and play it every time. Either way, let's go for a full playthrough video.
