Elvis tunes and techniques to employ when performing these songs! - Live with Fraser

In this video

In this session we chatted about using singles notes in our strumming to add more zing to our playing for Elvis tunes like 'That’s Alright Mama' (much like Country style Johnny Cash guitar too)

We looked at Fingerstyle tips for Can’t Help Falling In Love and how we can use the idea of ‘turning everything into an exercise’ to help us learn any fingerstyle pattern and rhythm.

‘turning everything into an exercise’ means to find a way we can break down what we’re learning and focus directly on a particular struggle. Example being, in a fingerstyle pattern, try use each finger to play the specific string over and over until it’s comfortable (lets say 4 times per string/per finger) and then perhaps 2 times and then the pattern might be more comfortable.

I demo this idea in the lesson so please watch and see if it works for you!
