In this video
In this lesson we're looking at the C shape in the CAGED system. This can be played as a standard open chord, and also up an octave above the 12th fret.
The biggest takeaway from each lesson in this module is that the chord shape is just the start! It can be a building block to know where other notes from a scale are, which in this case would be the C major scale.
We also DO NOT always need to play all the notes of a chord shape. On the contrary, playing fewer notes can lead to a much more sophisticated chord voicing and lead line.
Lesson aims
- Learn the C shape in open position and above the 12th fret
- Experiment with adding to the chord with other notes from the C major scale
