Mic Technique

We learn about amplifying our voices with the microphone! Hannah discusses ways of maintaining good mic technique whilst playing the guitar and the different solutions to some problems that can occur in performing situations.

• Look at mic set up and start to think of the best positions for different singing styles

• How to work with the mic, practice and experiment to explore the best techniques

Main points

• Practice maintaining the same volume when performing in your own space - either through an amp or recorded in your preferred way

• Move away and move closer when belting or singing softer and try to achieve similar volumes

• Practice annunciating the shapes of words and letters, such as 'Ch's, P's and B's' to achieve a clear but not overpowering sound in the mic
