In this live stream I was standing in for Andy and caught up with everyone about their guitar progress. We had some good discussions about F barre chord techniques after Michael B mentioned struggling with smooth transitions from C to F. I demonstrated some easier alternatives and emphasised that professionals often use simpler fingerings rather than full barre chords when performing.
The main focus ended up being on the recent Oasis gig I attended at Murrayfield, which was brilliant - much better than I expected. We also covered Cast and Richard Ashcroft, who both supported. Richard Ashcroft was particularly impressive and almost stole the show during Bittersweet Symphony. I worked through some of their songs including Cast's "Free Me" and demonstrated how it mixes rhythm and lead guitar techniques.
We also talked about gear - my Epiphone Les Paul Florentine, pedal setup with the Boss Blues Driver, and gave some amp settings advice. Wrapped up with some thoughts on why Wonderwall and Don't Look Back in Anger were actually brilliant live, even though I'm usually quite critical of gigs.
