Playing scales on guitar can sound 'non- musical' at the best of times. On acoustic guitar, without the aid of effects like reverb, overdrive and delay, lead players can feel even more exposed.

A trick that many pros use is to play appropriate open strings as often as possible. This is where open tunings, altered chords and many great riffs come from! See some examples written below the video.
