Got a new guitar?

Whether Santa did or didn't bring you a new axe, we can all relate to the amazing feeling of getting a new real 6 string :)

But, looking back, I know there are things I wish I'd have known when I got my first guitar for Christmas back in the day.

So, I thought I'd share my top 3 things that I wish someone had told me all those years ago.

Watch the video below to her all my tips for when you get a new guitar!

Here is a breakdown of the things I wish I'd known when I got my first ever guitar;

1. Get a capo

A capo allows you to play more songs in a much easier way Even the pros use them.

If you need more than that, it also lowers string height, which also make the guitar easier to play!

2. Don't be precious over the songs you learn

Some songs are much harder to learn than others, even if they have simple chords and strumming.

Songs are special to us. But sticking to trying the same song over and over to no avail is soul crushing and will kill your confidence. Know when to move on, make a routine, then shake it up regular.

For my recommended songs, all structured and free - check out my 10 day guitar starter course here

3. It's all about rhythm

It can be shocking to discover just how many dud notes and slow changes you can get away with if you're rhythm is good.

Play in time, keep the strumming going, and nobody will notice, this is even the case with the pros!

That's why I created my Guitar Starter Courses - one for Electric, the other for acoustic - BOTH with play along tracks!

Get your confidence AND competence up at the same time as learning all the core guitar chords and skills.
