10 Bands. 10 Completely Different Ways to Make Music

What can we learn about guitar and songwriting from 10 completely different bands? At ArcTanGent Festival I spoke to Battlesnake, Chat Pile, SikTh, Eivør, Conjurer, Lost in Kyiv, Napalm Death, A.A. Williams, Papangu and Cult of Luna & Julie Christmas about how they learned, how they write, the gear and techniques behind their sound, and the songs they'd recommend guitarists start with.

From two-note riffs and zero music theory to eight-finger tapping, alternate tunings, Brazilian rhythms and one of the best pieces of songwriting advice I heard all summer — there really is no single “right” way to make music.
